May 2011 - Newsletter: BITF, CORE and MORE

This is the first Newsletter for the 2011-2012 Board of Directors and boy are we excited.

On March 18th we held our AGM at Dharma labs and your new board was elected.

Unfortunately due to personal reasons Yvonne Higginson resigned from the board on April 26th, 2011. At this time the Board has decided to continue with only the 6 remaining members.

You will have to use the lost password function the first time you login to the new site but after that you can change it by clicking on my profile -> edit -> update your profile -> contact info

We hope that you will find this site easy to navigate, intuitive and user friendly.
There will be new features will be added in the upcoming months like a gallery and links page that members can submit to.

C.O.R.E.
Playa Time, Vancouver's contribution to the C.O.R.E (Circle of Regional Effigies) Project happening this at Burning Man this year has been award G.V.I.A.S. largest art grant ever. We are pleased and excited to be supporting this monumental art project and are excited to see it not only at BM but also at BITF where the community will be invited to add their own personal touches.

Wreck Beach Clean Up
Sunday June 5th, GVIAS will be hosting a Wreck Beach Clean up. All members are invited to join us down at wreck beach to help pick up litter and beautify a place that many of us call home during the summer. Typically this has happened the first week in May however the weather has been so cold and poor lately that we decided to wait a little till the sun decided to join us and help us all get naked. Stay tuned for a post about Cinquo de Juno

Maker's Faire

On June 25th, Vancouver will hold its first Maker's Faire
We are excited that many of GVIAS's makers and artists will be participating.
